Munchee Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Munchee (“Munchee”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Munchee app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at [email protected].

Summary

• We collect what we need to run the app: your account, your profile answers, the foods you scan and log, and how you use the app.

• Photos, scans and meal logs may be sent to OpenAI to generate your notes and insights, only if you turn on AI insights. You can switch this off anytime in Settings.

• We use analytics to improve the app and advertising partners to measure our ads. Tracking across other companies’ apps happens only if you allow it.

• We don’t sell your personal information for money.

• You can delete your account and data anytime from Settings → Delete Account.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account information. You sign in with Apple. We receive an Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address (which may be an Apple private relay address).
• Profile and onboarding answers. Such as your goals, age, gender, foods you want to avoid, allergies and dietary restrictions, and your Protector choices.
• Food and activity data. Barcodes you scan, products you look up, meals you log (by text, voice or photo), favorite foods, meal plans, swaps, and your progress such as streaks and XP.
• Photos. Photos of product labels and meals you take with your camera. These are uploaded to our cloud storage so we can read them and show you results.
• Voice input. If you log a meal by speaking, we use the microphone and Apple’s speech recognition to turn your voice into text. Apple may process the audio to transcribe it. We use the resulting text and do not keep the audio recording.
• Product contributions and corrections. When you add a missing product or correct product details, we store what you submitted, including any photos.
• Messages to us. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device data. Such as the screens you visit, features you use, taps, app sessions, crashes and errors, network request performance, device model, operating system version, language, and approximate region derived from your IP address.
